RUE DU MOT PERDU

Year 2006
Beirut -  The Hangar
London - The Lethaby Gallery

Rue du Mot Perdu is a scale model of a street of 8 meters long where the viewer is offered a god-like view into home interiors (the bedroom of an insomniac child who relentlessly fold paper planes, the entrance of a building where the inhabitants have willingly decided to ignore their posts, a cinema that replays for an empty audience Mauvais Sang of Carax, ghostly spaces and wastelands; represented through miniatures, videos and live performances.

A reflection on Beirut cycles of destruction and reconstruction, and my attempt to represent with makeshift materials a home city constantly fleeting.
