20 Hands to Build a City Workshop

The workshop brings together 10 children, between the age of 8 and 12 years-old from different walks of life and nationalities living in Beirut, in a exercise of building their ideal city together. With cardboard boxes, paint and basic handcraft, the group has constructed over a period of 5 days a scale model of a neighborhood, projecting on the ephemeral objects what they know and what they dream of. The workshop aimed at tackling prejudiced ideas of divide between communities and introduce the value of the shared space and experience. Following its success, the task was repeated on the 6th and 7th day in a different setting; at the beach, the children built a sand city.
